What started as a peaceful sauna experience turned into something we now genuinely value as part of a more balanced lifestyle.
At Wholesometarian, we believe rest is more than sleep. Sometimes rest looks like warmth, stillness, sweat, and giving your body a chance to slow down on purpose.
One of our four pillars is rest, guided by Sleepy Sloth and the reminder: “I Wanna Rest”.
Real rest is not only about going to bed earlier. It is also about creating moments that help the body unwind, support recovery, and make space for stillness. Sauna fits beautifully into that idea.
For us, sauna supports the kind of rest that feels intentional. It invites you to slow down, disconnect from distractions, and reconnect with your body in a simple way.
We are not sharing sauna because it sounds fancy. We are sharing it because it has become part of a conversation we care about: helping people feel better in simple, natural ways.
Many people find sauna helps them unwind and settle more deeply at the end of the day.
Sauna creates a quiet pause that can help you feel more clear-headed and grounded.
There is something powerful about sweating with intention and letting the body slow down afterward.
Sauna can become a comforting part of a recovery routine after busy days, workouts, or long seasons of stress.
A smaller pop-up or compact in-home sauna can be a more realistic entry point for people who want to try sauna without a major upfront investment.
For those ready to build a dedicated rest and recovery setup, a premium sauna can become a long-term wellness anchor in the home or backyard.
We like that it encourages people to pause.
We like that it feels both old-fashioned and relevant at the same time.
We like that it can be as simple as a small in-home setup or as elevated as a backyard sauna experience.
Most of all, we like that it supports something people often forget to protect: real rest.
Sometimes the best way to understand the value of sauna isn’t through research or articles, it’s through experience.
Recently, we spent time at Troll Hill, a unique nature retreat in Ontario that combines sauna, walking trails, beautiful views, and opportunities to slow down from the pace of everyday life.
One of the highlights of our stay was the sauna experience. Taking time to sit in the heat, step away from screens, and simply be present reminded us why sauna has become such an important part of many people’s wellness routines.
Beyond the sauna itself, the property offered something equally valuable: space to slow down.
The living roof, wraparound deck, walking paths, and natural surroundings all encouraged a more relaxed pace and a greater connection with nature.
The experience reinforced something we often discuss within the Wholesometarian lifestyle: wellness doesn’t always come from doing more. Sometimes it comes from creating opportunities to pause, recover, and reconnect with the basics.

You can also listen to the song that was inspired by our growing appreciation for sauna culture and recovery:
You do not need a perfect wellness routine to start. You just need a reason to slow down and a setup that fits your space, your budget, and your lifestyle.
If sauna has caught your attention, you are not alone. It became something we wanted to understand more after experiencing it ourselves.
We have been exploring different ways heat can support rest, recovery, and everyday routines. These are two pieces we created as part of that learning.
A closer look at how we’ve started using sauna in a simple, repeatable way — turning heat into something that supports real rest and recovery.
Not everyone wants or needs a full sauna setup. Here is a more accessible option that still brings warmth and relaxation into your home.
Whether you choose a full sauna, a smaller in-home option, or even a steam shower, the goal is the same, creating space to slow down and support your body in a simple, consistent way.
Sauna is one part of the bigger picture. If you want to see how it fits into the full Rest pillar, visit our Sleepy Sloth page and founder story.
