Benefits of Getting Out in Nature

Daily exposure to nature not only makes you feel better emotionally, it contributes to your physical well-being, reducing blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and the production of stress hormones.

For nature lovers their ideal source of relaxation or physical activates are geared outdoors, they could be found kayaking or climbing in the summer or enjoying a crisp cool walk or downhill skiing in the winter season.

Time spent in nature is not only a source of leisure time studies have shown that outdoor play is beneficial to our children’s growth and health in many ways. Children are more creative when exposed to nature, they use all their senses rather than just sight and sound. Children in nature-based playgrounds engaged in more creative play than children in traditional asphalt/structure-based playgrounds, they  use their imaginations more.

In one study, 95 percent of those interviewed said their mood improved after spending time outside, changing from depressed, stressed, and anxious to more calm and balanced. If you physically can’t get out in nature, studies show viewing images of nature can also benefit your health and well-being.

Stress Reliever

Nature makes us happy and improves our overall mood. It boosts endorphin levels and dopamine production, which promotes happiness.  A little goes a long way, simply listening to the birds tweet or watching squirrels can have a calming effect. Our souls resonate with the natural world and are nourished by beautiful landscapes, serene forests and peaceful mountain treks.

A growing number of studies have shown that visiting green spaces and being exposed to natural environments can reduce psychological stress. It is hard to explain the power of nature can relieve both physical and mental stress. There is little more relaxing than sitting with a cup of tea looking at a hill and hearing the nearby stream trickle away.

Enhance Creativity

Spending time inside all day can make you feel sluggish, most reach for a coffee not realizing that spending 20 minutes in the open air gives your brain an energy boost comparable to one cup of Joe. Instead of reaching for an energy drink or coffee for that extra kick of energy, why not try to boost your energy levels with a dose of fresh air and nature!

If you’re struggling with writer’s block, you might want to ditch your laptop for the great outdoors. Spending time in nature is believed to calm the prefrontal cortex, allowing the brain to access other regions that can lead to insights and new ideas. To reap a creativity boost, simply take a walk in a nearby city park, feel the epic benefits of nature working its way into your body with every mile.

Better Sleep

Enhance Creativity

Better Sleep

Getting a good amount of sleep is incredibly important for your health. One of the brain’s functions is to regulate our body clock also known as the Circadian Rhythm and this includes our sleep. Fresh air therefore is an important step in helping us to maintain our body’s rhythms such as waking and sleeping. It can sometimes feel like a luxury to spend time outdoors but even a few minutes each day is better than none.

Vitamin D

Better Sleep

Vitamin D is essential for a well-functioning body. It helps us absorb calcium,  which is one of the main building blocks of bone. The body also needs vitamin D to keep the nerves, muscles, and immune system working properly. The sun is one of the best sources of vitamin D for the human body. When the sun’s rays hit the skin, processes inside the tissues start making vitamin D. Spending even a short time in the sun can provide the body with all of the vitamin D it needs for the day
