Meats, Seafood and Eggs

Including meat in your Diet has huge Benefits

Meat in general is the most nutrient-dense food group, rich in complex proteins, healthy fats, and bioavailable micronutrients that you can only get from animal products. Meat helps keep blood sugar levels stable due to its fat and high protein content, it also helps keep your energy levels steady and creates a feeling of satiety between meals, reducing cravings for unhealthy foods. Animal protein intake is also linked to increased muscle mass.

The meat from adult cattle is beef. Veal  comes from young calves ranging in age up to 35 weeks of age.  While these two types of meat come from the same source, it’s important to understand the differences between veal and beef. One of them being that beef is muscular and tougher. Veal has more cholesterol, fat, and calories than beef.

Dairy

Milk

yogurt

yogurt

Dairy milk may come from any mammal.

Cows, goats, buffalo, and sheep are common producers, with cow being the most common consumed in North America. Milk is the staple for many other delightful dairy products such as cheese, yogurt and ice cream!

Yogurt offers several important nutrients including protein and calcium, it is a staple food in several cultures for good reasons! Believe it or not, making your own yogurt at home is so easy and requires no special equipment. By heating whole milk to the desired temperature and mixing in cultures, (you can use already purchased plain yogurt) covered in cheese cloth and leave out for approx. 7-12 hours so the bacteria has a chance to “eat” the sugar found in the milk.

As a result the milk will thicken and produce lactic acid. The lactic acid is what preserves the yogurt and gives it the tangy taste, Yummy!

cheese

cheese

There are thousands of types of cheese. Alone, it can be a snack or an appetizer.  Some cheese varieties can be made at home and is pretty easy. Ingredients need is  Citric acid, Rennet, Non chlorinated water, Milk and flavouring, such as salt, brine, herbs, spices. These simple ingredients will ripen the milk, form curds and whey and add flavour to the finished cheese. Most importantly knowing that processed cheeses, such as cheese spreads, cheese slices and cheese flavoured products cannot be categorized as cheese. These are shelf-stable products containing added toxic ingredients.

Butter

Ice Cream

cheese

Ever heard the saying "butter is better" this is because butter is made from MILK! Milk being the base ingredient means that it contains the beneficial nutritions of milk. Butter is made by agitating cream, which damages the membranes and allows the milk fats to conjoin. Try making your own butter at home, it is as easy as putting heavy cream in a food processor and running it until it turns into butter. Any other spreads such as margarine should be avoided as it is simply is not the basic ingredient that butter is produced from.

Ice Cream

Ice Cream

Ice Cream

Homemade ice cream is easy to make with just 4 basic ingredients: pure vanilla extract, milk, heavy whipping cream, and a natural sweetener of your choice. After mixing, chill the mixture below freezing point of water, stirring through out freezing process to incorporate air spaces and to prevent detectable ice crystals from forming. The result is a smooth, semi-solid foam that is solid at very low temperatures. Keep an eye out for products  labelled "frozen dairy dessert". These do not meet the criteria to be called ice cream and are not made from the same basic ingredients as pure true good old-fashion Ice Cream, rather they have preservatives and unnatural flavours.
